Calorimetry allows you to find the specific heat of things by placing them in water. If we manipulate the variables of our experiment what will happen to the specific heat of our metal? If we use calorimetry then we will be able to find out the specific heat of our metal because of the heat lost in the metal and the heat transfer into the surrounding water. The independent variables of this experiment would be the type of Metal heated. The dependent variable would be the change in temperature, and the specific heat of the metals. The control variables would be the water, heating apparatus and the procedures. Hypothesis: If the change in temperature is higher then it is going to have a higher specific heat but if the change in temperature is lower then it will have a low specific heat.
